I’ve had the pleasure of knowing and being friends with Deb Slater, my producer and the host of Experience northwest for a long time, and one day she was having a bad day and I was having a bad day but her day was worse so I brought flowers to her at work at KVOS. She was very touched and brought me into her office and she showed me her show board, work board whatever it’s called and said look at my board. Look at it. And I looked at it and it was very white, it had some nice white space and she said you don’t know what it means do you, and I said no and she said I have ten minutes to fill for the show this weekend and I don’t know what I’m going to do. And I said I can help you. I’ll fill a minute and she said what do you mean and I said I’ll talk about something for a minute and she said what are you going to talk about and I said, I don’t know, I’ll think of something and she said for one minute and I said yes and then she thought about it…for less than a minute and she said what are you going to call it and I said gimme a mnute. And she said ok and so that’s how I got my gig. So never underestimate the power of flowers and a minute.
