Hi. I’m Marla. Gimme a minute. I wanna talk to you about fish.
Well, mostly about Salmon. And what it takes to make sure they have a place to live and grow and reproduce, here in Whatcom County, so that people like you and I can get our omega 3.
Here in our community, there’s an organization called the Nooksack Salmon Enhancement Association, or NSEA. NSEA is a community-based nonprofit organization, dedicated to restoring sustainable wild salmon runs in Whatcom County. They do this by restoring habitat for salmon, educating people about salmon, and organizing volunteer work parties, to engage us in the restoration process. Salmon are a northwest icon, and NSEA works hard to engage our community, and to support salmon at the same time.
Salmon at the Bay is an annual Celebration of Salmon through Art, Food, and Music.
Hosted by Boundary Bay since 2002, this event has become a Bronstein family tradition. The art is astounding, the Music mesmerizing and the food..well, it’s phenomenal. Don’t miss your opportunity to attend the annual Salmon at the Bay kick off, with the annual salmon burger barbeque.
Join me at Boundary Bay, 1107 Railroad Avenue in Bellingham.
And no summer in Whatcom County is complete without the Salmon Dinner that concludes the event. This fundraising event benefits NSEA’s salmon habitat restoration work in Whatcom County.
Celebrate our communities’ personal, cultural, historical, economic, and environmental connections to salmon. I’m Marla. Thanks for listening. See ya.
