If you give your dog a dolphin
He will surely want to sniff it
And when he tries to sniff it
He might fall into the water
And if he likes to swim
He may stay in the water for a little while
And play with the dolphin
And the sight might make you smile

Some boaters may float by

So they might call the newspapers
Because they never saw that before
And the newspaper editors may come and take a look

He may have an idea
And call the circus
And if the circus people come
They might watch the dog and dolphin play for a while
And the sight might make them smile
And because what they love to do

Is to make lots and lots of people smile
They might want to take the dolphin with them
And they will promise to feed it
And keep it safe
For a long, long time
So you may get sad
But let them know they can take the dolphin
And then your dog will be lonely
And you may feel bad
And you will want to do something nice for your dog
Like get him a dolphin
And if you give your dog a dolphin,
