Hi I’m Marla. Gimme a Minute. I wanna talk to you about bullies.
If you’re like me, maybe you’ve asked this question to yourself, or out loud.
What the hell is going on in our schools.
When are we going to learn.
Every time I hear about a teen suicide, or a story about a teen killing his or her classmates, my first thought is, what pushed them to this point? What made them so violent, so completely insensitive to another human being that they would threaten, hurt or torture another person? How could they bring a weapon to school with the express purpose to kill a classmate. And do so in a premeditated, well calculated way. What emotional misery must this kid be saddled with, that could perceive these actions as being their last resort. It’s the same story over and over. Good quiet kid from a nice quiet family.
Full disclosure. I would never have a gun in my home. Not now and not when my kids were younger. That’s my personal choice. BUT, I don’t believe that every parent who has a gun in their home is a bad parent, and not every kid who grew up in that home would bring it to school to shoot a classmate or teacher…. But some would.
So here’s a thought.
What if we had a crystal ball, so we’d know if our actions towards someone could incite them to get a gun and hurt themselves or others?
What if we just treated them like they could?
I’m Marla. Thanks for listening.
And be nice to each other.
